Post Secret, Part 1

Frank Warren started Post Secret as an art project.  People send him their secrets on a postcard.

Frank posts a handful of new ones and old ones he's received every Sunday on postsecret.com.  He has published 6 books archiving the secrets, has exhibited them in the US and internationally (including a big show recently at the Smithsonian), and travels the world hosting Post Secret events (mostly at colleges).

The variety of secrets run the gamut from poignant to heartbreaking to funny.  Here is a collection of those secrets.

Nothing to really say...

I wracked my mind trying to come up with an idea for a post for today. Ideas were elusive, and having the entire internet at my fingertips was not a help. So I sat on the patio trying to think, and I realized that this was the best I had to offer. A beautiful summer night spent on the patio with a terrific canine, what could be better?

Enjoy the week everyone!

Some Thursday Laughs

The weekend is in sight so let's have some laughs!

One of my (many) pet peeves is people who park poorly.  When they park in two spots, pull in so close to my car that I cannot get in, park in front of a hydrant... it just makes me shake my head.  According to the internet, the following notes on cars are the most hilarious of all time.  Not sure I'd agree, but they made me laugh!  I hope you get a kick out of them too.

I'd bet they are the latter...

Looks like someone needs some helpful instructions...

Someone is feeling pretty special, so she made something just for him...

You dirty rat...

I'm using this one next time...

Ouch!

 Can we talk?

Never mess with Grumpy Cat...

Too much information...

Perhaps this should be included with #1...

I see what you did there...

Please have some mercy, officer.

I'd like to give a special shout out to Roxie for her great posts the last month.  I truly appreciate your taking over while I was away.  xoxo

Things to consider

I know these are things we all are aware of, but it never hurts to be reminded. 😊

Have a wonderful week everyone!

The weekend awaits

Widespread, oppressive and dangerous heat to roast much of the U.S. through the weekend

I hope everyone affected by this heatwave stays safe and cool for the next few days.  It is incredibly hot here, rather hard to breathe outside. I will be heading up north to Wisconsin early tomorrow morning, and the projected temperature there is much better than in Illinois. Time for another family visit. I hope you all have a great weekend! 😃

You can now become your cat by turning their photo into an incredibly realistic mask

Summertime musings

The heat of summer is definitely upon most of us. Air conditioners are running, bugs are biting, and the sunsets are beautiful on a clear night. Storms have been frequent as well, but sometimes I enjoy a good summer thunderstorm. It really is one of my favorite times of the year.

My tomato plants have been enjoying the mix of steamy heat and rain. They look very hardy and  are producing many tomatoes. Nothing red yet, but I don't think it will be long before that happens.

( Please excuse the netting, definitely needed to keep the critters out.)

The sweet peppers are growing a little slow but I think they will be productive.

Duncan is enjoying his time on the patio when the weather is cooperative.

I recently bought a new ring with one of my favorite sayings. I think we all can agree with it.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Tuesday

You may have noticed that the Mon/Wed/Fri posts that Q and I decided on already has failed. I have not done one on the correct day yet. 😄 Oh well, I guess it will be a surprise from week to week.

What to do?

Today marks the end of the 4th of July weekend, and the last post was getting stale. I have to admit my mind is a bit stale as well, and I had absolutely no idea what to write today. I decided on a food post, because well, we all like to eat, right? So without further ado here is the meal I made yesterday.

It was nothing special, just a classic summer meal. Grilling out has been difficult this summer because of a lot of stormy weather. Yesterday was perfect though.

I decided to make chocolate chip banana bread for dessert.

So that's that. 😄 The best I can do today.

Have a great day everyone!

Thursday 4 July 2019

Happy 4th of July!

The day of patriotic flag flying and picnics is here once again. A summer ritual which ends with fireworks in the evening. I hope everyone finds a few moments to enjoy the day.

I will be spending the afternoon at a White Sox baseball game with my family. One of my favorite places to be on a summer day!

Have a great day everyone 😊

Wait, I forgot......

After our birthday goof ups I thought these would be appropriate. I think you will understand. 😉

Have a great memorable week everyone!
