Happy Friday, friends!! We made it through another week of summer. It's been a scorcher for many of us, however our pal P wins the prize for severest heatwave with temperatures in the 100s. P, you win a freezer full of popcycles.

I hope everyone is up for a small hodgepodge of pictures and memes. Be sure you make it to the last picture because it is an important question waiting to be answered.

Now it's time to settle the most important summer debate...
Which one is correct?

I'd be remiss if I didn't include a link to the powerful, moving, inspirational eulogy President Obama gave at Congressman John Lewis' funeral yesterday. You can read it here.

Limericks

Pgfan shared these with us. Her Mom is 88 years old and writes limericks to keep her brain sharp.  She does a great job! I think everyone will enjoy her writing 😀
Thanks for sharing Pgfan!

There is this old lady (that’s me)
At home in the land of the free
But don’t vote in November
You may live to remember
How great this land used to be

Since birth I have known 15 Presidents
From Hoover to the current one in residence
Some were great, some not really so
But the current one has got to go
His evil surely knows no precedence

As we fight an awful pandemic
And racism all too systematic
Our President brags
While his rating sags
So he delivers a divisive polemic

If you get COVID you’ll be fine
Is our President’s new line
Too bad if you’re infected
As long as he’s elected
So sorry he won’t resign

The lady is wasting her time
Try to come up with this morning’s rhyme
Roger Stone and test taking
Covid records are breaking
And a leader who’s not worth a dime

Well he finally put on a mask
It wasn’t too hard of a task
Just wait for a minute
His sycophants will spin it
And in his orange glow they will bask

Don is destroying our land
Do you think it may have been planned
With Putin controlling
And Donnie extolling
Both of them ought to be banned

Don is not right in the head
I can’t believe what he said
Don’t listen to Fauci
He’s old and grouchy
Believe Chuck Woolery instead

As I sit in my house all alone
With my TV, books and my phone
This isn’t so bad
I shouldn’t feel sad
I’ll try for a happier tone

I’m determined to stick to my plan
To be as content as I can
Though I’m stuck inside
I still have my pride
All negative thoughts I will ban

I’m reading Mary Trump’s book
That gives us an insider’s look
At her uncle Don
The perpetual con
And the despicable actions he took

Friday Fun

It's the weekend and that means we're going to have some fun. Here are some silly cat memes that made me laugh, and I hope you get a chuckle out of them too.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow for more laughs at the Zoom Party.

More Lazy Summer Days

Welcome to the weekend, friends. This week's weather continues to be extremely hot and humid so I spent most days indoors, not working in my yard. I tried my best to keep everything in control by religiously pruning and weeding a few times since the garden started taking off in the late spring/early summer. This is easier said than done in 90+ degree weather.

Last month, I took these photos to share in a post, while my garden was tidy. Don't mind the lack of lush, green grass- - we have a water ban so outdoor watering is prohibited. In a future post, I'll share current pix of the yard, which is now in its somewhat intentional, out-of-control state.

Lazy days

This COVID crisis makes me feel exhausted some days. My motivation and inspiration to write new posts are lacking. So I will fall back on something familiar. This summer we have a birds nest on the front porch. Eggs have hatched twice so far. It has been the highlight of our summer. Following them from eggs until they fly away has been fun.

My hibiscus plant is beautiful this year, and I am enjoying the daily blooms. 😊

Have a great week everyone! Stay safe and healthy 💜
