Choosing Joy

There is one week to go until election day. My anxiety level skyrockets whenever I think about it or turn on the news. In our house, we are doing our best to not watch too much CNN, which is actually helping with our stress.

I read this article on Psychology Today's website which offers ideas how to cope withwhat we're all going through: Struggling With Election Anxiety? Basic coping skills can help keep stress in check. I found that making a conscuous choice not to engage in the political happenings in these final weeks has allowed me to have more energy to focus on the positive things happening around me.

With that in mind, I thought we could have a post where we share some good things. What is happening in your community that have renewed you faith in humanity? Have you had a bit of good news you'd like to share? Did you see a comic or heard a groaner that made you laugh out loud? How about posting a picture you took or saw that made you smile? You all get the idea. Let's spread some joy to get us through the next week.

Come Celebrate With Us

A VeRy MeRRy UnBiRthDaY to YOU!

With all the drama and stress these days, it is all too easy to forget the important people in our lives and their special day.

So... today we celebrate our dear Pallotine's Unbirthday!

Come on in...  We're all mad here...

It's a Tea Party!

I have my favourite teapot...

and I made some "special" tea for you... wink, wink.

The table is set...
Grab a chair...

                                                                     Everyone Sing.
Come on!  Don't be shy. Belt it out...top of your lungs.
                                                               You know you want to.

The cakes have arrived..
TW made them and they look ... interesting!

Happy Unbirthday P.   Guess what?   It is my unbirthday too!

Yours too?  Wow! What a coincidence.

Our present is on order.

And if the Universe is kind... and I believe she is ... it will arrive on Nov. 3rd.

And...it will be the greatest present ever!

Happy Unbirthday to all of us!

Cats... Gotta Love 'Em

There's no doubt that our fur babies bring us so much joy. We love them no matter what. Even when they're naughty, they make us laugh. If you take that, add staying home during the pandemic doing our best to keep busy, things don't always go the way we want them to!

Last spring, many of us kept entertained by doing jigsaw puzzles. They can be challenging, not only because they're 1000+ pieces, but because our furry friends like to help us. Here are some funny kitties doing their best to help their people.

Here Comes the Sun

I always wanted to see the sunrise over the ocean. My past attempts were always thwarted by fog. Since the September 1st forecast was for clear skies, I tried once again. Arriving at the beach 5:15 am to catch first light, I was treated to a fantastic show as the sun rose from the water right in front of me. It was a spectactular way to start the day. I wish each of you could have been with me to experience the magical beginning of that day.

Have a great week, friends!

Grammarphiles unite!

                                             This should be fun 😀

• An Oxford comma walks into a bar where it spends the evening watching the television getting drunk and smoking cigars.
• A dangling participle walks into a bar. Enjoying a cocktail and chatting with the bartender, the evening passes pleasantly.
• A bar was walked into by the passive voice.
• An oxymoron walked into a bar, and the silence was deafening.
• Two quotation marks walk into a “bar.”
• A malapropism walks into a bar, looking for all intensive purposes like a wolf in cheap clothing, muttering epitaphs and casting dispersions on his magnificent other, who takes him for granite.
• Hyperbole totally rips into this insane bar and absolutely destroys everything.
• A question mark walks into a bar?
• A non sequitur walks into a bar. In a strong wind, even turkeys can fly.
• Papyrus and Comic Sans walk into a bar. The bartender says, "Get out -- we don't serve your type."
• A mixed metaphor walks into a bar, seeing the handwriting on the wall but hoping to nip it in the bud.
• A comma splice walks into a bar, it has a drink and then leaves.
• Three intransitive verbs walk into a bar. They sit. They converse. They depart.
• A synonym strolls into a tavern.
• At the end of the day, a cliché walks into a bar -- fresh as a daisy, cute as a button, and sharp as a tack.
• A run-on sentence walks into a bar it starts flirting. With a cute little sentence fragment.
• Falling slowly, softly falling, the chiasmus collapses to the bar floor.
• A figure of speech literally walks into a bar and ends up getting figuratively hammered.
• An allusion walks into a bar, despite the fact that alcohol is its Achilles heel.
• The subjunctive would have walked into a bar, had it only known.
• A misplaced modifier walks into a bar owned a man with a glass eye named Ralph.
• The past, present, and future walked into a bar. It was tense.
• A dyslexic walks into a bra.
• A verb walks into a bar, sees a beautiful noun, and suggests they conjugate. The noun declines.
• A simile walks into a bar, as parched as a desert.
• A gerund and an infinitive walk into a bar, drinking to forget.
• A hyphenated word and a non-hyphenated word walk into a bar and the bartender nearly chokes on the irony.

Thanks to Q for this post! Have a good week everyone!

You all look a bit thirsty. Hold on a minute.

Cheers, Roxie! Everyone, grab a glass or two.

A few flowers for the birthday lady.

Time for birthday cake. In a pandemic, it's best to have every type of cake imaginable.

A party favor especially for you, Roxie...

... And a little something for the morning, in case there was excessive celebration today!

Happy Birthday, Roxie!!

Wishing you happiness, health and love in the year to come. xoxo
