Philosophy

An eccentric philosophy professor gave a one question final exam after a semester dealing with a broad array of topics. The class was already seated and ready to go when the professor picked up his chair, plopped it on his desk and wrote on the board: "Using everything we have learned this semester, prove that this chair does not exist."

Fingers flew, erasers erased, notebooks were filled in furious fashion. Some students wrote over 30 pages in one hour attempting to refute the existence of the chair. One member of the class however, was up and finished in less than a minute.

Weeks later when the grades were posted, the rest of the group wondered how he could have gotten an A when he had barely written anything at all. His answer consisted of two words: "What chair?"

Party time!!

We have two birthday girls who are celebrating today.

First, our dear Q. What can I say about her? She is a wonderful woman and we are happy to call her our friend. We have laughed, cried, and shared so much over the years. We wish you a day full of love, laughter and exciting adventures.

Our friend Sleuth also has a birthday today. We have not heard from her in a while and hope she and Mr. Sleuth are doing well. Sleuth, we wish you a very happy birthday! We would love to hear from you.

I decided to add this picture of my hibiscus for a birthday flower as it is blooming so nice this season.

He insisted.

Have a happy birthday ladies!

Warning

WARNING TO LADIES OF A CERTAIN AGE!!!

You've no doubt heard about people who have been abducted and had
their kidneys removed by black-market organ thieves.

My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years
ago. I went to sleep and woke up with someone else's thighs.
It was just that quick. The replacements had the texture of
cooked oatmeal. Whose thighs were these and what happened to
mine? I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs.
Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my
life in jeans. And then the thieves struck again.

My arse was next. I knew it was the same gang, because they
took pains to match my new rear-end to the thighs they had
stuck me with earlier. But my new arse was attached at least
three inches lower than my original! I realized I'd have to
give up my jeans in favour of long skirts.

Two years ago I realized my arms had been switched. One
morning I was fixing my hair and was horrified to see the
flesh of my upper arm swing to and fro with the motion of
the hairbrush. This was really getting scary - my body was
being replaced one section at a time. What could they do to
me next?

When my poor neck suddenly disappeared and was replaced with
a turkey neck, I decided to tell my story. Women of the
world wake up and smell the coffee! Those 'plastic' surgeons
are using REAL replacement body parts - stolen from you and
me! The next time someone you know has something 'lifted',
Look again - was it lifted from you?

P. S. Last year I thought someone had stolen my boobs. I was
lying in bed and they were gone! But when I jumped out of
bed, I was relieved to see that they had just been hiding in
my armpits as I slept. Now I keep them hidden in my
waistband.

P.P.S.   Those same thieves just came into my closet and shrank my clothes!
How do they do that?

Men also have their share of issues after a certain age! (H/T to GJ)

Stuff happens...

I am having my first real bout of blogger's block. I have random thoughts and ideas bouncing around my head, but nothing is taking hold.

Maybe I can tell a joke?

Why did the geese cross the road?

Wait, that should be chicken, correct? Ugh.

I know, I will share a new recipe. We all enjoy those!

Call Pizza place. Order. Pick up Pizza.

Or perhaps we should share some adult beverages.

I think I may be on to something!

When all else fails, this fellow never disappoints.

Thanks for the help Dunc!

Have a good weekend everyone 😊

Let's have some fun

I am a big proponent of laughter to get through tough times. We certainly have had our share of laughs here on the blog. It is a good mix of serious conversations, along with some silly ones. Today I chose to be more light hearted. I hope everyone has a great day!

A Glimmer of Hope

This cartoon got  Rob Rogers fired from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

I know all of us have been distressed by the separation of families at the border. It is truly evil. For weeks, there has only been sporadic media coverage. But finally, people are waking up and speaking out.

Here are some glimmers of hope.

  • Slate has an article informing people about how they can help
  • The ACLU is litigating the policy in California.
  • The Florence Project  is an Arizona project offering free legal services to men, women, and children in immigration custody.
  • People living close to these detention camps are beginning to protest... "incredulous after seeing what is happening so close to their homes on the news. "
  • There are more and more articles and tweets about the situation so people are becoming aware of this inhumane practice.
  • The New York Daily News has a stark cover highlighting what has been happening over the last six weeks.
  • Sen Dianne Feinstein: "...40 senators now support the bill to bar children from being taken from their parents at the border. We're continuing to ask Republican senators to join our bill. If you're represented by a Republican senator, please ask them to cosponsor S. 3036."  (This number has risen to almost 50.)
The Slate article ends with the following:

... please call your elected officials, stay tuned for demonstrations, hug your children, and be grateful if you are not currently dependent on the basic humanity of U.S. policy.

The situation is still horrendous and I fear for these children. However, it is some relief to discover that there are people and groups that I can support in some way. I want my voice heard.

Happy Father's Day!!

Another Father's day is upon us. A few of us still have our Dads to celebrate, many of us do not have that pleasure anymore. Some fall in both categories, ( wait, that's probably just me ). I think the focus today should be on the person we all rely on on WTIOC- the one and only P! Our friend for at least ten years, he has managed to deal with our daily goofiness, no matter what we throw at him. He has laughed with us, debated us, rolled his eyes at us, ( I am sure!) and supported us wholeheartedly. We love you P!
                                                                     GO BLUE!!!!!

                    HAPPY FATHERS DAY P !!!

We're getting out the party decorations, delicious food and drink, and having a party to celebrate FRIENDSHIP!!

If there are any lurkers reading, please join us!  It's a great time to introduce yourself.
