Nomads of Mongolia: a vanishing lifestyle

We've been watching Marco Polo on Netflix, where the nomadic lifestyle of the Mongol peoples was already an issue, as Kublai Khan had settled in a palace after conquering China. There are some very small communities still surviving the advance of the modern, urban lifestyle now prevalent in the region...

I prepared a post and forgot to publish it!

I tried, I really tried, but I was trying to post and having three conversations at the same time: Dora in Miami, Paul in Melbourne, and Billy in Munich. It was a lazy post because it's so hot, just some nice random photos... We managed to go for a walk in the morning, had lunch (when all the conversations were going on), then went to the beach and finally popped to the supermarket for some essentials. Not a bad day, apart from leaving the post hanging in mid air! I hope you enjoy the photos.

A laugh for the weekend

An Italian, a Frenchman, and an Englishman were discussing screams of passion.

The Italian said:  "Last night I massaged my wife all over with the finest extra virgin olive oil, then we made passionate love and I made her scream, non-stop, for five minutes."

The Frenchman said:  "Last night I massaged my wife all over with special aphrodisiac oil from Provence and then we made passionate love. I made her scream for fifteen minutes."

The Englishman said, “That's nothing! Last night I massaged my wife all over with a special butter. I caressed her entire body with the butter and then made love and I made her scream for two long hours."

The Italian and Frenchman, astonished, asked, "Two full hours? Wow! That's phenomenal, what did you do, to make her scream for two hours?"

The Englishman replied: "I wiped my hands on the curtains."

Take a deep breath...

These stunning photos by Phoebe Rudomino are very real and she doesn't use any photo editing! She specialises in spectacular, large scale water projects like this one.

Tip of the iceberg... and the rest!

I saw a photo of a flipped iceberg, did a bit of googling and came up with some spectacular photos of regular icebergs and of the ones that flipped. Enjoy!

No food for thought

These are Hunger Plates and they are part of a campaign by the United Nations World Food Project to help feed 805 million starving people around the world. They speak for themselves...

Staying in the shade

Thank you for the warm welcome back! It's almost too hot to blog, but I found a nice theme for sunny days.

Hi! Yes, I'm still here

I had a very long, very tiring journey home. Just about all my chosen modes of transport were delayed. I'm still getting myself back together. It's as hot here as it was on Miami, but we don't have A/C here... We've been spending a lot of our time on the lake.

Here's a picture of my farewell lunch and Dora's smily face. I miss her already.

Cool pictures

I'm sorry about the lack of posts. The weather has been yuck and internet connection a bit dodgy lately. I'm flying back home tomorrow, so the next post will appear on Friday at the earliest...
