Serenity Now, Serenity Now

We've all been stressed out about the primaries, the spreading coronavirus, and of course, our own issues~ be it family, health, personal struggles. I treasure the friendship with each and every one of you. I am thankful that we're here for one another, especially when one of us needs support. This blog has been the voice of reason for most of us. To that end, let's take a moment to enjoy some calming photos.

Sometimes you just need a little help from your friends.

Happy Weekend, friends.

A little sweetness

Sometimes we just need something to smile about. 😊

Duncan wanted to say hello as well.

Have a good week!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I have always liked Valentine's Day, but not because of the romance side of it. That has become way too commercial in my opinion. I do enjoy the excitement of children as they prepare cards for their classmates, and the delight they take in passing them out and receiving them. It's a good day to remember the family and friends who are important to all of us.

Happy Valentine's Day to all my WTIOC friends! We have been through a lot together and somehow we keep going in spite of the difficulties in all our lives. Thanks for always being there. 💖

A celebration is never complete without snacks....

Have a wonderful weekend!

What Are You Watching?

The impeachment trials and the Iowa caucus were a bit much to bear as they wrapped up. If you're like us (Roxie and me), you are feeling down about the state of politics and our country at the moment. One thing we've tried to do is watch less news and tune into more enjoyable things. DH and I no longer watch CNN at night, instead finding new (to us) shows on the streaming services. Since we haven't had a post in a while to share what we're watching, here it is...

WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING??

Super Bowl

Love it or hate it, today is Super Bowl Sunday. This may be one of the few days of the year where people are united and focused on the same thing. The game is just a reason to get together and enjoy some good food and cheer on your favorite team.

I am more about the food than the game....

My favorite thing about Super bowl Sunday is the Puppy Bowl. 😊

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Update.....

I never knew there was a Kitty Bowl! 😍

Chihuly!! Part 3

This post focuses on Chihuly's drawings and a handful of vessels unlike the others I've shown. They're all presented without comment.

There is a glassblowing studio attached to the arts center where you can watch an artist creating his piece, with the help of assistants, from start to finish. I was mesmerized watching the process. I knew glassblowing was physical, and required help, but I had no idea what a production it is. It was extremely hot and loud, and the way they all worked together -- actually it was like they were performing a dance. This is a video of the final stage of making this shallow vessel.

Chihuly!! Part 2

This post features Chihuly's colorful, bowl-like pieces from the Chihuly Collection. Once again, pictures don't do them justice! I didn't enhance the colors so you can imagine how vibrant they are in person. Enjoy!!

Chihuly!! Part 1

One of the highlights of our Florida vacation was the visit to the Chihuly Collection in St. Petersburg. I've seen only a couple of his more opulent works in person before, and didn't really know what to expect. I was absolutely blown away by his work. Chihuly's pieces are reflective of organic forms found in nature, which in my opinion, does not come across in photos. I wish that the collection had more work in it, but considering the amount of mental and physical efforts which go into creating his pieces, it was a large collection.

Here are some photos I took, presented with limited comment...

These three hang from the ceiling and are very large!

I'll call this one "A Psychedelic Landscape"

This is the ceiling of a hallway between two exhibit rooms.
You can see the top of our 6'6" tall friend's head for scale.

I hope you enjoyed Part 1. Part 2 and maybe Part 3 to follow!

Happy Weekend!!
