Birthday Wishes

Today our dear friend CC celebrates her birthday.
👠

Sometimes her birthday celebration is a jubilant one- 2008.

Sometimes it is not- 2016.

But today is a good day.
Maybe not as jubilant as we would have liked-
We didn't get everything that we hoped for-
But the House is a really big deal.

So let's celebrate this special birthday in style.

We need booze...lots of booze...

Shaken, not stirred.

And CC you will have your champagne.

And cake- lots of cake.

This cake is soooo not CC that I just had to get it... ; ))

Here we go... this is more like it.

Have a wonderful birthday, CC.
💖 💘 💝
And tomorrow the fight continues.

Election day

Today is the day we can make a difference. I am preaching to the choir here on the blog as I know we would not miss the opportunity. Voter turnout has been high, hopefully it will result in some changes. We will have a better idea this evening. I look forward to discussing the results with all of you later tonight.

Time to think

Let's complete the weekend with some brain teasers. I think we all need a few smiles to prepare for the days ahead.

1)  I have forests but no trees.
I have lakes but no water.
I have roads but no cars.
         What am I?

2)  Which seven-letter word contains dozens of letters?

3) Arnold Schwarzenegger has a big one.
Michael J. Fox has a small one.
The pope doesn't use his at all.
Clinton uses his all the time.
 What is it?

4)  You use a knife to slice my head, and weep
beside me when I'm dead.
What am I?

5)  What can run but never walks,
has a mouth but never talks,
has a head but never weeps,
has a bed, but never sleeps?

6)  A man leaves home and make three left turns,
only to return home facing two men wearing masks.
Who are these two men?

Have a great day everyone!

Talloires, France

One summer in the 1980s, I was fortunate to attend college in Talloires, France.  It is on Lac Annecy in the Haute-Savoie (French Alps).  It is by far the most beautiful place I have ever been.  I'd like to take you on a tour.

This photo (yes, it's a photograph!!) is from a Talloires facebook group I follow.  The light there is incredible, very similar to the light of Cape Cod.

The whole region is incredibly beautiful.

The school itself is located in a 1000 year-old Priory.

I lived in Veyrier du Lac, which was a quick bus ride from Talloires.  Here are some photos from that part of the lake.  The family I stayed with lives somewhere in this photo.

The largest city of the Haute-Savoie is Annecy.  It's a quaint city, with three canals and the Thiou River running through it.

I would love to go back there one day.

A Killtle Humor

Since we haven't seen many kilted fellas around here lately, I thought it would be fun to see some kilted animals.  Who would have known that the internet was full of them!

Have a great day, friends!

Happy Halloween!!

It's Halloween, the night when the little trick-or-treaters come knocking.  Here are some groaners to get you through all of the evening's excitement!

I couldn't resist this scary pair...

Happy Halloween!!

Natures beauty

The fall colors appear to have hit their peak this week in my area. I was able to get these pictures on Saturday. It was a beautiful brisk day and the leaves were glistening in the sunlight. Sunday dawned gloomy, wet and windy, many of the colorful leaves are now on the ground waiting to be raked up.
The pictures don't show the true beauty of the day, but it gives you an idea.

Have a great day everyone! 😊

Week day adventures

This past Wednesday I met up with my cousins for our monthly lunch. We went to a restaurant called The Big Fish Grille located in Wilmington, Illinois on the Des Plaines river. It was too chilly to eat outside, but the view was beautiful.

The food was delicious. We started out with a glass of wine. It was half price wine Wednesday after all!

We all enjoyed a wedge salad.

I had a dish called " Charleston Shrimp N' Cheesy Grits "  which was extremely tasty.

A fun afternoon was had by all. The best part was not the food or drink, or the location. It was definitely the company. I am looking forward to more of these get togethers in the future.

We were trying to capture the fall colors behind us, but our heads covered it up. Oh well, I like it better this way!

Have a great weekend everyone!
