How Are We Doing?

I want to thank Roxie for helping us make it through last week. She kept us all going with her posts.

I just wanted to hide...

Riley was very good at hiding. He hid from flies, especially if Mike was trying to swat them, and he hid from noises. He was very eccentric but I loved him to bits. He was a true alpha dog and kept all the other family dogs, and children, in their place. They all treated him with respect and made sure not to get in his way.  But he was afraid of flies... ; ))

I am like Riley- especially at times of stress.

Then there is Dublin. Dublin did not worry about anything. He woke up every morning thinking about the great fun he would have that day. Mike would throw the ball for him. He would climb up on Mike's lap. He would ask everyone he met for a pat. He would not have spent even a minute worrying about the bastards in the GOP! If Dublin were human he would have been a Buddist.

I guess we need as many coping strategies as we have in our basket to make it through these days. This week is not going to be any easier.

But with all the news that came out yesterday- I am feeling a lot more like Sweet Pea! She doesn't take shite from anyone!

Take heart, everyone.

Furry friends

We all love our pets here at WTIOC. I thought I would introduce you to the pets of my offspring.

So let's get started....

Bailey is a city cat. She enjoys checking out the view to see what is going on down below.

She is a beautiful girl who has a silly side.

Prodigy # 1 and his better half love Bailey. It is easy to see why.

Next come Tyger. He is a suburban cat unlike his city cousin. Tyger had some health issues when he was first adopted but now is doing well. He is a BIG Iowa fan, (sorry P ) probably because his people are Iowa grads.

Tyger loves to relax, but likes to keep my son and daughter-in-law on their toes.

He is very handsome, but then perhaps I am biased...

Now for a change of pace. Daisy is the dog of my daughter and her fiance. An absolute sweetheart, she likes to peek around the stairs to check out what is happening in the kitchen. Where's Daisy?

She loves to have her picture taken.

Her favorite spot is cuddling up on the bed.

Now you all know who the favorite pet is of my youngest daughter. The one and only ( and often overused)  Duncan! So bear with me once again.

The timing is not right for son #3 to get a dog, but when he is ready he plans on getting a
Great Pyrenees. So there will be more to add to this story.

Have a great week everyone!

Looking forward

What an emotional week just ended. Let's hope the coming days show a real investigation into past allegations against the current nominee to the Supreme Court. The people of the United States deserve nothing less.

Reflection

I am worn out after all the drama yesterday.

Here's to a much better weekend ahead!

Dunc and I enjoyed the cool weather outside last night.

Good morning!

Let's begin the day with a few relaxing pictures before we start to read the morning news, maybe these will help keep our blood pressure down. We can only hope. Have a nice Wednesday!

These Two, Part Deux.

I thought I'd share a few more pix of my silly cats who I still have a hard time telling apart.

Luxie has a black line down her nose and looks bigger.  Luna, with darker eyes, makes a funny noise instead of meowing.  Neither is the dominant one as far as I can tell.  Even knowing all that, I still am learning how to tell who is who.

Luxie looks either stoned or pissed off in this pic.

This is my view when I wake up. Can you tell them apart? I can't when I'm half asleep without my glasses on!

Black line = Luxie

Poor Luna.

Whoever is who, I love them and they are bring so much love to our family.

Teeny tiny animals

SuAmi is a group of family crocheters living in Vietnam. The business is named after the youngest member who loves all kinds of animals. I think their creations are quite amazing and beautiful.

This is for GJ.

I can't even imagine crocheting something so small. It would produce much anxiety.

So let me conclude with something I enjoy and occasionally get right.

Have a wonderful week.

Making do

Wednesday was a busy day for me, but I was determined to make something tasty and somewhat healthy for dinner. I checked the freezer, not much there but a package of boneless chicken thighs. That's a start. I had a jar of wild rice in the pantry, perhaps I could make chicken rice soup? No, that wouldn't work, I didn't have celery or carrots. I did have an onion, a package of mushrooms and a can of low sodium cream of chicken soup. I was on to something. Bring out the crock pot.

I tossed in all the ingredients (minus the rice) along with some skim milk and seasonings.  I then went on my merry way.

Is anyone still with me?

I was afraid of that.

Moving on...

When I returned home later in the day the house smelled great. The gravy seemed a little thin so I added a few spoonfuls of light sour cream. That did the trick. I cooked the rice, heated up some frozen veggies, and dinner was ready. Oh, I also found a frozen baguette in the freezer. Bonus.

Voila!
Light creamy chicken and wild rice. I am not sure how accurate the light part is, but it makes me feel better to call it that. 😃

Thanks for reading this self-indulgent post! Have a great Saturday.

May These Brighten Your Day

This would be a lot easier than exercising and dieting...

TW, I think both you and I know what this is like!

There is a lot of truth in this one...

I could tell you a couple of stories to back this one up... ; ))

Yep! Making supper and doing housework.

I especially love this one. The other day I received a letter in the mail that was so beautiful and so kind that this is exactly how I felt. I will tell you about it in the comments.

I am sending you all hugs.
