Cancelled Due to Insanity!

By the time you are reading this, the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may well be over, especially if you are on the West Coast. Theatres, cathedrals, libraries, hotels and banquet halls across Canada are booked for morning wedding celebration parties.

I was planning a nice WTIOC Royal Wedding Brunch.

But my heart is broken once again for my American neighbours and I cannot pretend that everything is okay.

Enough is enough.

Since Jan 1 2018:

🚩21,776 gun related incidents 🚩5,406 dead 🚩101 mass shootings 🚩22 school shootings, average of 1 a week

Today is a day to grieve.

Tomorrow is a day to keep fighting. I believe in those kids from Florida and the young people they have inspired. Let's help keep their voices in the media. They will need the strength to carry on and they cannot do it alone.

😓  I send you all hugs.

A quick, silly post

Laugh is the best medicine...

The Bottle of Wine

I am off for one of those regularly scheduled unpleasant procedures today... so leaving you with a little laugh.

Sally was driving home from one of her business trips in  Northern Arizona when she saw an elderly Navajo woman walking on the side of the road.

As the trip was a long and quiet one, she stopped the car and asked the Navajo woman if she would like a ride.

With a silent nod of thanks, the woman got into the car.

Resuming her journey, Sally tried in vain to make a bit of small talk with the Navajo woman.   The old woman just sat silently, looking intently at everything she saw, studying every little detail, until she noticed a brown bag on the seat next to Sally.

'What's in the bag?' asked the old woman.

Sally looked down at the brown bag and said, 'It's a bottle of wine. I got it for my husband.'

The Navajo woman was silent for another moment or two.  Then speaking with the quiet wisdom of an elder, she said:

'Good trade.....'
This is a rebuttal to the one about husbands and their dogs... ; ))

Hmmmm.......

Who likes silly inventions? I found a few, let me know what y'all think. ( I decided to be Southern today ) 😄

Somehow I just don't see Duncan enjoying this!

I wonder if the butter is soft?
Question- Do you keep your butter in the fridge or leave it on the counter? I am a fridge girl.

Umm, no.

Looks dangerous!

This almost makes sense.

No thank you. Every dog in the neighborhood would be following me!

Back in France

I arrived in one piece, despite a few annoying mishaps. Plane delayed, missed the train, stayed in a hotel, which was good because it's not so tiring when the journey is staggered. Caught the first train the following day, no problem there, but the next train was cancelled due to an accident on the line, so we were taken to another station on a bus, in torrential rain all the way. The train was waiting for the bus, then I had another 2 hour wait for the next one. The reason for so many changes of trains is that Macron is messing with people's pensions and various sectors are having strikes. The train services have been disrupted since early April!

It was an emotional journey. Being back where I have so many memories is difficult, and on top of it, the weather is lousy, with non-stop rain and it's quite a chilly. I have only a couple of changes of warm clothes, so I need to go shopping.

I have been following the blog, but must confess that the inspiration to write posts is not there yet. I'll get better after I've had some time to recover emotionally.

Enjoy the chats, peeps! P, please don't forget to post another update about the fire. I hope Annette recovers quickly from her burns. Ouch!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today is the day to celebrate mothers. I hope everyone has a fantastic day! Some of us are able to spend time talking and visiting with Mom, which is wonderful. Many of us can no longer do that, this is the first year I fall into that category. I am feeling a bit melancholy, but plan on thinking of all the good times we shared, and all the happy memories we made.

Happy Mother's Day Mom! I love you and miss you, forever in my heart! 💖

Cool art

A friend shared this on facebook. The artist's name is Michael Vistia. He often paints cats and dogs. He has never had an art lesson, or any other formal education to learn the skills needed to mix and blend paints. He is a ardent believer in "gifts" brought with us from past lives, he is certain his talent has evolved through many lifetimes. He loves what he does, and enjoys interacting with people.
I have chosen some pictures I think everyone will enjoy. You may even see a familiar face in the bunch !

TGIF

Happy Friday! Another weekend is upon us. What are your plans? I think I will work in the yard preparing the soil to plant the vegetable garden. I believe the chance for frost is over, fingers crossed! I am growing tomatoes and a few different varieties of peppers this year. Spinach was planted a few weeks ago and is coming up nicely. I will share pictures as time goes by.

                                                Have a good weekend everyone!

Life's Journeys

Today, Regina starts off on another journey back to France. Unlike her last trip home this journey should be filled with hope and a sense of excitement.

TW said beautifully what so many of us feel...

Dear Regina, You are such a strong woman and your attitude toward life has been a guiding light for me and many others. (Your concise advice and calm outlook on life has helped me many times when I was 'muddling thru'.)
I have always come out stronger at the other end (thank you!) ...and I know you will also. It IS a new and exciting chapter in your life. I am excited for you and have no doubt that you will forge ahead and will be able to handle anything that comes your way.

We are all here with you, Regina. We love you.
Safe journey, dear friend.

My Happy Place

As you all know, Cape Cod is near and dear to me.  My parents built our cottage in 1959, with my dad designing the house and overseeing every aspect of the construction.  The siting of the cottage is spectacular.  We have the most beautiful view of the sunsets over Cape Cod Bay.  The colors, whether vibrant or muted, are always a sight to be seen.  Here are some photos of the sunsets taken from out top deck using my iPhone.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

This first one is the view looking towards the bay during the day.

Now we have the fireworks...

Unexpected travel

I have some  news... When I entered the US, I had a visa waiver, so I was given three months stay, full stop. But we only discovered that the visa couldn't be extended (at all) when the border protection guys sent me an email saying they hoped I had enjoyed my visit and that I had only ten days to leave the country. Bye bye!

I still had a valid return ticket to Paris, and I will travel this Thursday. Fortunately, I have many friends over there and have already arranged a place to stay, with a very good, very welcoming friend.

I'm not quite sure what will happen next, but I know I can't stay with Dora on a full time basis. I'll apply for a proper tourist visa and try to spend the summers in France and the winters in Miami. Best of both worlds!

I need my fellow bloggers to cover for me from Thursday until at least Monday, because the journey is brutal and I'll be jet-lagged. Merci in advance, peeps!

The good news is that I can take you sightseeing in the French countryside again...

Here's a taster, a place called Dampniat:
