No food for thought

These are Hunger Plates and they are part of a campaign by the United Nations World Food Project to help feed 805 million starving people around the world. They speak for themselves...

Staying in the shade

Thank you for the warm welcome back! It's almost too hot to blog, but I found a nice theme for sunny days.

Hi! Yes, I'm still here

I had a very long, very tiring journey home. Just about all my chosen modes of transport were delayed. I'm still getting myself back together. It's as hot here as it was on Miami, but we don't have A/C here... We've been spending a lot of our time on the lake.

Here's a picture of my farewell lunch and Dora's smily face. I miss her already.

Cool pictures

I'm sorry about the lack of posts. The weather has been yuck and internet connection a bit dodgy lately. I'm flying back home tomorrow, so the next post will appear on Friday at the earliest...

Where the caves have eyes

Prohodna is a karst cave in north central Bulgaria, located in the Iskar Gorge near the village of Karlukovo in Lukovit Municipality, Lovech Province. The cave is known for the two eye-like holes in its ceiling, known as the Eyes of God or Oknata.

Unsettling beauty

There's an unsettling quality to these illustrations by Mexican artist Gabriel Pacheco.

Do as you're told!

A guy is doing some handyman work at a house. Across the room is a large gray parrot on a perch.

The family dog comes into the room and jumps up on the couch. The parrot says, “Get off the couch!” and the dog jumps down immediately.

A small child comes into the room with toys and the parrot says, “Go to your room!” and the child picks up his toys leaves without hesitation.

The guy turns to the parrot and says, “I’ve never seen anything like that before."

The parrot looks at the guy and says, “Get back to work!”
