Oh the temptation!

Last night I woke up from a delightful dream where I was floating in a sea of creamy chocolate to find the air heavenly scented with the aroma of... chocolate!

Our village has one of the best chocolatiers in the region and every Easter people travel considerable distances to buy their holiday treats.

The business was started in 1909 by the couple Pierre and Clémence Borzeix as a modest bakery which expanded to include patisserie and chocolate creations, achieving their enduring reputation for excellence over the years. The business was purchased by Bernard Besse in 1985, and he simply added his name to the original, retaining the history of four generations of chocolatiers/patissiers.

They must start to prepare their beautiful creations in the middle of the night and the smell travels around the village, giving the residents very sweet dreams indeed.

Here's a "taste" of this wonderful place:

Handsome duck

This charming photograph of a duck admiring his own reflection was taken by an elusive English photographer called Villager Jim. He lives in a very beautiful part of England, the Peak District, and his photos show a mix of landscapes and animals. His site is worth a visit.

Beautiful sculptures of horses

These sculptures capture the elegance of these beautiful creatures. The first one is made of metal, but pay close attention to the second one, as it was put together using very unusual materials..

Can I get you a drink?

GrannyJ sent us some tongue-in-cheek advice regarding beverages. Thank you, GJ.

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine

and those who don't and are always

seen with a bottle of water in their hand:

As Ben Franklin said:

In wine there is wisdom,

In beer there is freedom,

In water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials,

scientists have demonstrated that if we drink

1 liter of water each day,

at the end of the year we would have absorbed

more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria

found in feces.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop annually..

However,

We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer

(or rum, whiskey or other liquor)

because alcohol has to go through a purification process

of boiling, filtering and fermenting.

Remember:

Water = Poop,

Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,

than to drink water and be full of sh*t

Perfect illusions

These pictures look incredibly real, but are trompe l'oeil decals for doors... The pictures seemed appropriate for an April 1st post.

A fairly peaceful dispute

This cute video reminded me of GrannyJ and the twins. Makes you think... what else Jonas and Jake share, eh? ;-)

Almost black & white

These colour photographs have a certain b&w quality about them...
